Mandarin Teacher Hua Zhang

Mrs. Hua Zhang, a natural story teller and a native Chinese Mandarin speaker, is an award winning public speaker, journalist, and editor. When she came to the United States in 1996, she re-invented herself as a designer and a dancer who performed traditional Chinese folk dance in various international culture events. Her dance pictures were featured in local print media numerous times. Since 2006, she started teaching Mandarin Chinese in Greater Seattle area schools.

She teaches more than just the Chinese language. In her lessons, she often incorporates Chinese history, customs and traditions so that the students can understand the Chinese culture. She has developed her own teaching materials and curricula for students of different levels and of different Chinese backgrounds. Such personalized learning environment is one of a kind.

In the summer, the intensive Chinese camps enrich students by providing them the opportunity to learn

and play with other Chinese learners. Hua has seamlessly incorporated a great deal of Chinese learning with a lot of fun.

Shed organically integrate Montessori educational concepts and methods with Chinese language learning tools in order to firmly capture this unique time of learning. By using colorful teaching aids and daily practice sessions, Shed provides young children with a new Chinese language and cultural learning environment that will make the study of Mandarin interesting and lively for them.  Furthermore, She wants to engage children on this exciting journey of enrichment, maximize their interest in learning Mandarin, and establish a solid foundation for long-term learning of this language
